The 47th Annual New Mexico State University Jazz Festival will be held in the Spring of 2016 at New Mexico State University’s Atkinson Recital Hall.
New Mexico State University Jazz Festival is an educationally based non-competitive event. Each participating ensemble will receive a 30-minute clinic with all three of our guest clinicians along with digitally recorded and written comments. The ensemble will receive a DVD recording of their performance and clinic. Individual student citations will be awarded throughout the day and will appear in director’s packets.
March 3rd will be devoted to Jazz Choirs and Jazz Orchestras. A free mini-concert will follow the day’s activities where the Middle School awards will be presented.

- Outstanding Rhythm Section
- Outstanding Soloist
- Outstanding Musician

Scores for the day will be posted on the NMSU Jazz Web Site.
March 5th will be devoted to High School participants. A ticketed concert at 8 p.m. will conclude the day’s activities featuring out guest soloists and the NMSU Jazz Ensemble. Tickets will be available by calling the NMSU Band Office at (575) 646-5341. The concert will also be the venue for the High School Awards. This concert is free of charge to participating bands.

Registration
A $250, non-refundable registration fee is required of every participating ensemble. Deadline is April 1st, 2013. Online registration is available.
NMSU Jazz Festival is open to all Middle School, High School, University and Community Jazz Ensembles and Combos.
