  • MUS 163/363 MO2
  • Jazz Pedagogy

All NMSU students are invited to explore various concepts of jazz performance practice, jazz improvisation and jazz stylistic technique.

This class will focus on teaching jazz ensemble in a middle school/high school setting. Students may perform on their primary instruments, unless they choose to play a traditional jazz ensemble instrument. They will be exposed jazz theory, interpretation, improvisation and ensemble performance.

NO AUDITION IS NECESSARY

THIS WILL FULFILL THE JAZZ ENSEMBLE REQUIREMENT FOR MUSIC EDUCATION MAJORS AND THE NASM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEPARTMENT
